Too Late

  • I scream, I thrash along the walls of today
    A gasp for air
    You said, "tomorrow"
But tomorrow is a day too late
She smiled as she said "later"
But as the warm stillness blankets me
And I can feel my fingertips becoming cold
I realise that "later" is too late
    He promised "next year"
But as the night sky fades from my vision
I realised that "next year" is a year too late
I told myself "in a minute"
But as I lay on the cold asphalt,
And I gasped for my last breath
My last thought was that I was too late.
